Volunteer FAQ

  • I am a student and a film enthusiast. Can I join?  

Yes, you are certainly welcome. The only criteria for joining us as a volunteer is that you should be a film enthusiast.

  • How can I volunteer for NIFFFI?

  • Will I get any stipend?

No. We are currently unable to offer any financial incentives to our volunteers.

  • Will I get a certificate for volunteering?

Yes. We provide certificates for volunteers who have completed 2 months or more.

  • What could be my role as a volunteer?

As a volunteer, you will work with us on a number of aspects relating to the organisation of the Festival. You will have the option to work in or across various departments such as Administration, Relationship, Design and Live Events.

  • How much time do I need to commit?

This can vary based on your specific responsibilities and even preference. Generally, we would expect our volunteers to spend about 2 hours a day around and during the Festival season and about 2 hours per week during other times.

  • Can I volunteer online?

Yes, the Festival is being held online this year due to the pandemic.

  • Do I get my expenses paid or any benefits for volunteering?

Yes, you are eligible for reimbursement of any amounts spent by you in the course of responsibilities assigned to you. All expenses must be pre-approved by your NIFFFI lead and will require submission of expense receipts.

  • How old do I have to be to volunteer?

There is no age bar. If you are a minor, we will need a parent or guardian to provide consent.

  • Can I leave if I don’t like my role?

Yes. You may also switch roles or departments.

  • Is there any qualification criteria to be a volunteer?

Anyone can volunteer. There is there no qualification criteria apart from interest in the Festival and its mission.

  • I am not a film enthusiast but I want to be part of saving indigenous culture. How can I help?

Yes, we are open to exploring ways in which we can collaborate. You can donate, try volunteering or ​contact us regarding any other support you can offer.
